Who is I?
I’ve spent a considerable amount of time over the years considering my own existence and have revisited my lines of thinking this week as certain life events have pressed upon me to re-examine myself and who I am. I thought I’d share my current thought process and understanding.
I am aware that I have two states of being and 3 different states of mind or perspectives on my reality:
- My conscious-self
- My Ego
- The personality
- The ego
- The alter-ego
My conscious-self is the one that is aware, yet it’s probably the one that I spend the least amount of time actually being. If you have read Eckhart Tolle’s The Power of Now, you’ll understand what being present and in the moment means. It’s a state of being, not a state of mind, that is helped by the process of meditation and mindfulness and it is along those lines that I refer to my conscious-self.
