Noise Reduction

noise

One of the realities of corporate life is the occurrence of noise. Bureaucrats and technocrats. People who distract, disengage, dissuade people from getting their work done.

A few years ago I wrote about the zombie invasion of the cubicle. Basically the premise is people stumble through the day, glassy eyed, in sugar induced comas doing the Blackberry prayer.

I think there is a solution and maybe I spent too much time reading The Alchemist for book club. Consider your passion and life’s purpose and drive that into your work. Life is too much to focus on convention, too awesome to replicate and regurgitate and too rich to live the bland.

So what is the solution to the noise? Ask questions. Think for yourself. Consider who to talk to. And drive data-driven decisions that focus on business impact.
