My favorite TV openers from the 50’s to today
When it comes to defining the overall feel of a television show, the opening sequence can make or break a show. I am a television junkie. I think it is a healthy addiction.
I decided to dedicate today to my favorite TV openers from the last 60 years dating back to the 1950’s. Why the 50’s? Well even though the American public got a sense of TV at the 1939 World’s Fair, it was WWII that really stopped the growth of TV.
So 1950’s was when TV took-off. It would be over 30 years later that yours truly found his love of TV. Email, tweet, or comment. What are your favorite TV title sequences?
The 50’s: Alfred Hitchcock Presents
The 60’s: Scooby Doo, Where Are You?
The 70’s: One Day at a Time
The 80’s: Charles in Charge
The 90’s: My So Called Life
The 00’s: Skins
The 10’s: Covert Affairs
“My So-Called Life” brought back some memories. For me, I’d maybe put the “Psych” intro for the 00s and the Simpsons for the 90s.
@KevinDaniel I like your suggestions. I might have to do a follow-up post with those choices.
What about freaks & geeks? That was an awesome show IMHO 🙂 but I like your list too!
