World Cup Day 8: Match Ball

Just when I thought the trip had reached its best moment, I am proven wrong.

We were at the airport making conversation with random Americans who were traveling for the World Cup. One of the strangers turned out to be an official VIP for McDonald’s who was traveling with one of the official match balls from the Mexico vs. Croatia game. And we got to pose with it.

To hold one of those match balls (I believe there are 14 per match) is incredible. People travel from all over the world to see this thing kicked into the goal. It made my day.

I also got to see some more Google friends who were in Rio de Janeiro. Arriving into the city starts the next phase of the trip. More tales from Rio to follow.
