Watch – “This First Love” Has a Sweet Gay Twist
First loves can be rough — especially when that love isn’t reciprocated.
Father Tiger, a Los Angeles-based indie pop duo comprised of Greg Delson and John Russell, explores that youthful longing in the new video for their infectious summer single “First Love.”
It’s a classic tale of boy meets girl, boy loves girl, boy and girl grow up together and share memories into adulthood. These crazy kids are totally going to tie the knot, right? But why’s the chick being so difficult, ripping up the cute guy’s Valentine and his rebuffing his kiss after the school dance? Ping!
In the spirit of marriage equality support, more than 50 people donated their time and services to the making of the “First Love” video, which was directed by Michael Medico, and the venue used contributed their fee to the L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center.
As a bonus, a portion of the song’s iTunes proceeds will benefit marriage equality organizations like Freedom to Marry, American Foundation for Equal Rights, and Lambda Legal.
